Fires continue to burn deep in the mountains of North Carolina as firefighters and emergency crews battle the flames.
As of Sunday night, the wildfire at Party Rock had grown to 3,500 acres and was 15 percent contained.
Boteler and Nantahala Gorge Wildfire has continued to grow at a slower pace, affecting almost 14,000 acres. It is currently at 33 percent containment.
A handful of other wildfires spanning six counties bring the total to 27,000 acres of actively burning land. Only three fires are over 50 percent contained.
More than 1,000 firefighters and emergency crews are working hard to combat these flames in some of the toughest terrain in the Carolinas.
