The Panthers home opener on Sunday against the Buffalo Bills will test Carolina’s defense after the Bills racked up 190 rushing yards with 408 yards in total after their season opener against the New York Jets last week.
If one thing is clear after the Panthers first regular-season game, it is that their defense is more than ready, possibly even outshining the offense going into week two. Head coach Ron Rivera said Cam Newton’s limited practice schedule due to shoulder surgery is the new normal going through the season, and the quarterback will be ready to play Sunday.
Last week, Rivera said Newton’s arm was a bit rusty, and it showed with a few delayed pass attempts and an interception.
